Game-Based Aptitude Interview Questions
Game-based aptitude assessments use timed cognitive games and numerical or diagrammatic reasoning instead of a pure arithmetic blitz, then move to probability and trading-judgement rounds.
This format probes quick quantitative thinking and decision-making more than raw arithmetic speed. Online stages are commonly reported to be game-based: timed cognitive tasks plus numerical data-interpretation and diagrammatic reasoning. Later rounds bring discrete probability, expected value, dice and random-walk problems, estimation, and market-making games where you quote a spread and update on new information.
A representative process runs from an online assessment to a behavioural interview, then a technical interview with a trader or engineer, and a final assessment day mixing technical and behavioural stations.

- What does a game-based trading assessment test?
- Timed cognitive games plus numerical and diagrammatic reasoning, rather than an arithmetic blitz. The live rounds then cover probability, expected value, mental arithmetic, and market-making games about edge and risk.
- How should I prepare for it?
- Get comfortable making fast, accurate decisions under time pressure, and build probability, expected-value, and mental-arithmetic fluency for the live rounds.
- Is mental math still worth practising for this format?
- Yes. Even where the online stage is game-based, the live trading rounds lean on quick arithmetic, so it remains worth drilling.
